Hipsters Beware: Old Metairie Listings Are Cool

I’m an Old Metairie rat. I grew up on Hollywood Drive, one of the busiest through streets in the area. Surprisingly I survived not getting run over by a speeding soccer mom. I also avoided getting hit by the train! We moved to Bonnabel Boulevard into a house that is representative of a log cabin, which at first I hated but later came to love. I went to the grammar school located across the street. My first two houses that I sold were Old Metairie listings.

Why I Moved Back

After college I moved away to what I thought was a bigger and badder city, then another one, then came back to my roots. Yes, I bought a house in Old Metairie, two blocks from my parents. What the hell was I thinking? I’ll tell you: I love it here. I can walk or ride my bike to anywhere I need. If I need a quick beer, I walk a few doors down to Mama’s Place. If I need my makeup done for a date night, I run over to Katie Malone Makeup Studio for a beauty treatment and head over to Rock-n-Sake for dinner. Let’s not forget the outfit at any number of boutiques along Metairie Road.

Hipsters Fear Old Metairie!

Hipsters Fear Old Metairie

Some hipsters like to pooh pooh on Old Metairie and call it the suburbs. Ok, it might be a little suburban, but I’m ok with that because I get the best of both worlds. Old Metairie listings normally have larger lots than New Orleans, and dogs can run freely in the backyard. Kids can too, but hipsters aren’t that keen on kids, are they? Old Metairians still need things like Tabasco for morning Bloody Mary (not every morning!) from Canseco’s, and get lunch at Lee’s Hamburgers (a gem I just discovered recently). I don’t even eat hamburgers but they have a mean turkey po-boy. Did I already mention we have Rock-n-Sake? So good, and fun. You can have all of this at your fingertips as well. Buy this Old Metairie listing and be my neighbor.
